About Our Team
In collaboration with Associated Students’ Food Pantry of San Francisco State University and SF-Marin Food Bank, our project team intends to design and prototype artifacts or service solutions, that potentially apply blockchain technology to promote volunteer participation and healthier food donations to hunger-relief charities.

Field Research - SFSU Food Pantry
In a region as rich as the Bay Area, 11.5% of its residents and one in six children struggle with hunger. Among them, many are college students who have to choose between paying for food and paying for rent. SFSU Food Pantry is available to all students, who can receive perishable and stable foods on campus every week.

Field Research - Foodbank and Farmers' Market
In November 2019, we visited Redwood Empire Foodbank in Santa Rosa and the Farmers' Market in Ferry Building in San Francisco. From this experience, we learned that donation is a costly process, and there were barriers in place that they had to overcome if they wished to donate.
